Itineray:
1st day: Arrival at Lima, transfer from the airport to the hotel in Lima
2nd day: Lima – Huaraz (bus).
Transfer to Huaraz (distance: 400 km from Lima), passing the Conococha (4,050m), transfer from the bus-station to the hotel
3rd day: Acclimatization trek to Lake Churup (4,450m).
We leave Huaraz at 7 a.m. for the village of Pitec. From the village, we ascend for about 3 hours, including some rock scrambling at the top, to reach Churup Lake, a beautiful turquoise lake at the base of Churup Mountain – Huaraz - Hostal.
 
4th day: Huaraz (3,100m) – Huallanca (3450m) – Matacancha (3,900m).
Leaving Huaraz at 9.00 am by bus towards Huallanca to Matacancha. Camping at Matacancha (3900).
 
5th day: Matacancha (3,900) - Laguna de Mitococha. (4,100).
Walking-time about 5 – 6 hours. We pass the first pass of Cacananpunta (4700) and see the summits of some mountains like Ninashanca, Rondoy, lakes of Pucacocha, Yanacocha Chico and Grande. Then we descend until the camping at Mitococha with the view to the summits of Rondoy and Hirishanca.
 
6th day: Laguna de Mitococha (4,100) - Laguna de Carhuacocha (4,138).
Walking-time about 5-6 hours. Passing the second pass of Punta Carhuac (4650). We descend a ravine for reaching our camping at Carhuacocha. Enjoying the panoramic view to the mountains of Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Toro, etc.
 
7th day: Laguna de Carhuacocha (4,138) - Huayhuash. (4,100).
Walking-time about 6 – 7 hours. Passing the pass of Siula (4800). We descend to the lake of Suerococh, view to the mountains Siula, Jurau, Carnicero and Trapecio.
 
8th day: Huayhuash (4,100) - Laguna Viconga (4,407).
5- 6 hours. Ascening the 4th pass of Portachuelo (4750). Enjoying the view to Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, Millpo and parts of the Cordillera Raura. We arrive our camping at Viconga (4300). It is possible to take a bath at the hot springs of Atuscancha (4000).
 
9th day: Laguna Viconga (4,407) – Guanacpatay (3,900).
4- 5 hours. Passing the 5th pass of Cuyoc (5000). It`s the most highest one. We descend to our camping-site and enjoy the view to the mountains of Cuyoc, Trapecio and Puscanturpa.
 
10th day: Guanacpatay (4,250) Paso San Antonio (4,850 aprox.).
We descend to Calinca (4250) and visit the lake of Jurau (4350) 6 -7 hours.
 
11th day: Campamento Calinca (4,250) Visiting the lake of Sarapococha (4,505).
We return to the same camping-site. We enjoy the view to the summits of Siula. Yerupaja, Carnicero and some others.
 
12th day: Campamento Calinca (4,250) Descend to the village of Huallyapa (3,500).
4 -5 hours. We observe the costumes of the living at the village.
 
13th day: Pueblo de Huallyapa (3,500) Paso Tapush (4,800) Campamento Anguscancha (4200).
6-7 hours walking-time. We pass very close to the mountain devil.
 
14th day: Campamento Anguscancha (4,200) Paso Yaucha (4,847) Camping Jahuacocha (4,066).
5-6 hours of walking. Observing the mountains Yerupaja, Jirishanca, Rondoy and others.
 
15th day: Campamento Jahuacocha (4,066) Solterococha (4,120).
Base-camp of Yerupaja and return. 7-8 hours walking. We walk close to the mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash.
 
16th day: Laguna Jahuacocha (4,066) - Llamac (3,250).
Walking about 5-6 hours.We pass the last pass of Pampa de Llamac (4300) and see for the last time the summits of the Cordillera Huayhuash. We arrive at Chiquián (3400). Transfer to Huaraz - Hostal.
 
17th day: Day of rest in Huaraz.
Logistics and preparing the technical gear for the expedition.
18th day: Huaraz (3,100m) – Yungay – Cebollapampa – Cb Pisco (4,600m).
We leave from Huaraz to Huaylas Valley in bus, towards the town of Yungay (2500m). We continue on dirt road on the upper Llanganuco Valley passing the Lakes Chinancocha y Orconcocha to the point called Cebollapampa, located in Llanganuco Valley.. This is the starting point for the approach trek for climbing Pisco (5,762m), Huandoy (6,395m) and Chacraraju (6,112m). The base camp is reached in approximately 4 hours.
 
19th day: Cb Pisco (4,600) – Summit Pisco (5,750m) – Cb.
Early start (2-3 am) for the summit climb. We cross a moraine and climb to the glacier tongue, and then to the col, which offers excellent views of summits of Cordillera Blanca. The route to the summit crosses a crevasse to reach the summit, where a 360º view around makes us forget the fatigue. Descent to base camp.
 
20th day: Cb – Cebollapampa – Yungay – Huaraz – Hostal.
Descent from base camp to Cebollapampa where transportation will take us back to the hostal in Huaraz.
 
22th day: Travelling back to Lima (bus) – Hotel.
Transfer to Lima (hostal).
23th day: Lima, transfers from hotel to airport. Return to country of origin. |
