Itinerary:
1st day: Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel in Lima
2nd day: Lima to Huaraz by bus
(8 hours), stay at hotel (Bus Cruz del Sur).
3rd day: Acclimatization trek to Churup Lake (4.450m) and return to Huaraz.
We leave Huaraz by private-bus to the little village Pitek (3.850m). At first we pass through another village, which is called Llupa (3.650m). From here we have a beautiful view to the southern part of the Cordillera Blanca. Our trip to the Churup-Lake (4.450m) we start from Pitek. At first we enter the mountain ravine of Churup. After some hours of walking we reach the Lake Churup. Here we stay for one hour before we return to Huaraz.
 
4th day: Huaraz – Cebollapampa (3.850m) – Cb Pisco (4.600m).
we leave from Huaraz to Huaylas Valley in bus, towards the town of Yungay (2500m). We continue on dirt road on the upper Llanganuco Valley passing the Lakes Chinancocha y Orconcocha to the point called Cebollapampa, located in Llanganuco Valley. This is the starting point for the approach trek for climbing Pisco (5,762m), Huandoy (6,395m) and Chacraraju (6,112m). The base camp is reached in approximately 4 hours.
 
5th day: Cb Pisco - Pisco summit ( 5.750m) – Cb.
Early start (2-3 am) for the summit climb. We cross a moraine and climb to the glacier tongue, and then to the col, which offers excellent views of summits of Cordillera Blanca. The route to the summit crosses a crevasse to reach the summit, where a 360º view around makes us forget the fatigue. Descent to base camp.
 
6th day: Cb – Cebollapampa to base camp of Chopicalqui. (4.350m).
Descent from base camp to Cebollapampa where transportation will take us back to Portachuelo Llanganuco, where we start walking to the base camp, carrying our personal gear. We spend the night at the camp.

7th day: base camp to camp 1 (5.300 m).
Vertical drop: 900 m, duration: 4 to 5 hours.

8th day: C1 - Chopicalqui summit (6.354m) – C1.
Early start before dawn to climb to the summit, the vertical drop of 1,054 m and the return to camp 1 is usually done in 10 to 11 hours. The summit offers exceptional views of the whole Cordillera Blanca mountain range.

9th day: Camp 1 - Camp Morrena to Huaraz - Hostal.
Return to Portachuelo Llanganuco where we transfer on bus to Huaraz - Hostal.
The vertical drop of 1200 m is done in 4 hours.

10th day: Day of rest in Huaraz.
Logistics and preparing the technical gear for the expedition Climbing Alpamayo.
11th day: Huaraz (3.090m) – Cashapampa (2.900m) - Ichiccocha Lake (3.840m).
Bus ride from Huaraz to the village of Cashapampa (2,900m) at the entrance of Santa Cruz Valley. Here we meet the arriero and donkeys who will help transport the gear from Cashapampa to Ichiccocha Lake.
 
12th day: Ichiccocha - Jatuncocha Lake - Q. Arhuaycocha - base camp of Alpamayo (4.800m).
From the lake, we climb on a zigzag trail to reach the base camp of Alpamayo.

13th day: Base camp of Alpamayo - Morrena - C1 Alpamayo (5.300m).
Climb to the col of Alpamayo and establish high camp (5,300 m).

14th day: Col of Alpamayo (5.300m) - Summit (5.947m) – C1.
We start before dawn from camp 1 to the base of Rimaya and after passing it, we enter the ice flutes on the Directa Francesa route, which leads to the ridge and finally the summit (5,947m).
 
15th day: Col of Alpamayo - Cb Alpamayo.
Descend to base camp of Alpamayo and establish high camp.
 
16th day: Campo base - LLamacoral - Cashapampa - Caraz - Huaraz - Hostel.
Descend from base camp to Cashapampa, where we a bus will wait and take us back to Huaraz - Hostal.
 
17th day: Travelling back to Lima (bus) – Hotel.
Transfer to Lima (hostal).
18th day: Lima, transfers from hotel to airport. Return to country of origin. |
